Everything the photobooth layout designer can do, and how to use each tool. Pick a section below or scroll through the full guide.
On the start screen, pick a portrait, landscape, or strip template. Star ★ any template to mark it as a favorite, then use "Show favorites only" to filter the list.
Use the "Custom design" tile to upload a PNG or JPG you already made — it lands on the canvas as a full-size image layer.
Saved layouts appear here. Click one to reopen it, or hover and click ✕ to delete it.
Work on up to 6 layouts at once using the tab bar below the top bar. Each tab keeps its own design, undo/redo history, and selection — switch between them instantly without losing your place.
Click the + button to open a new tab. A blank tab shows the template picker so you can start from a preset, an upload, or a saved design. You can have up to 6 tabs open at a time.
Double-click any tab name to rename it. The name is also used as the filename when you export that layout.
Hover a tab and click the ✕ button to close it. If it's the only tab, closing resets it to a blank canvas instead. Your other tabs are unaffected.
All tabs are saved to your browser automatically — if you reload or come back later, your tabs and their designs are restored exactly as you left them.
Open the Export menu in the top bar and choose "Bulk Export" to open the bulk export dialog. Check the layouts you want to export, then click Export — each selected design downloads as a separate 300 DPI PNG, one after another. Empty (unstarted) tabs are excluded.
AI generation lives inside the Background panel. Click the violet Wand button in the fill-type grid to switch the panel into AI mode — only the AI controls are shown, and the other background fills (Clear, Solid, Gradient, Textures) are hidden until you switch it back off.
Generates a full edge-to-edge photobooth strip background. Photo windows are cut out automatically afterwards — the AI is told not to draw frames or boxes. The result lands as a selectable background image layer.
Generates a full scene (beach, ballroom, forest…) with no people in it — designed for green-screen cutout compositing onto your background.
Describe the style directly in the prompt text box — there is no separate style dropdown. Mention colors, mood, theme, and any decorative elements you want. Click the shuffle button to append a random style suggestion if you need inspiration.
An optional toggle (off by default) sends a map of your photo frames to the AI so it generates around them. Leave it off to let the AI fill the whole strip freely.
AI-generated background and overlay images are fully selectable on the canvas. Click one to select it, then use the properties panel to move, resize, rotate, and adjust blur, drop shadow, and top/bottom fade — just like any image layer.
Each generation uses one AI credit. Your remaining credits show at the bottom of the panel. Active subscribers can buy 50 more credits for €4.99.
Click "Add text" for a default text box, or choose a styled preset. The text lands on the canvas ready to edit.
Double-click any text object on the canvas to edit it in place. Type to replace content, Enter to confirm, or Escape to cancel. Use the properties panel for font, size, weight, color, alignment, letter spacing, line height, outline, and drop shadow.
Turn on the Gradient toggle in the text properties panel to fill the letters with a multi-stop color gradient instead of a flat color. Pick from metallic presets (gold, silver, rose-gold…) or set custom color stops, alpha, and angle. The gradient shrinks to fit the text so it covers every glyph, and it exports identically at 300 DPI.
The Bevel toggle adds a raised 3D edge to text — a light highlight on top and a dark shadow on bottom — for an embossed, metallic look. The intensity slider controls the strength. Bevel scales with font size and stacks with gradient, outline, and shadow.
Drag a corner or edge handle on a text box to resize it — the font size, letter spacing, outline width, and shadow blur all scale proportionally so the whole text grows or shrinks together, not just the container.
Browse 11 categories: Basic (rectangles, circles, lines, pills), Hearts (38 SVG styles), Nature (leaves, flowers, suns, moons, butterflies), Geometric (stars, hexagons, blobs, sparkles), Decor (arrows, waves, crowns, banners, ribbons), Hand Drawn (sketch-style shapes), Line Art (outline-only versions), Tape (washi-style strips), Photobooth (speech bubbles, polaroids), Social (Instagram, TikTok icons), and Wreaths (40 transparent floral rings and garlands). Adjust fill color, corner radius, outline, and drop shadow in the properties panel.
Add a gradient overlay layer covering the whole canvas, with custom color stops and angle.
Upload any PNG or JPG. It's added as an image layer you can move, resize, and fit (cover or contain).
Your last six uploads are cached in the browser and shown as thumbnails below the upload button. Click any thumbnail to drop it back onto the canvas instantly — no need to re-upload the same logo every session. Click the trash icon to clear the list.
Select any image layer and click "Crop" in the properties panel to open the crop tool. Drag the yellow handles to set the crop region, drag inside to reposition, and use the Feather slider (0–80px) to soften the crop edges with a smooth gradient fade. Click "Apply Crop" to upload the cropped result and replace the image on the canvas.
Choose Clear for a transparent background, or set a solid color, a gradient, a texture, or an image background. New templates and presets open with a near-white solid fill by default. Image backgrounds support blur and a gradient-blur fade. Toggle the violet Wand button to switch the panel into AI generation mode — the fill controls hide while AI is active.
Add a dark (or colored) edge fade with the Vignette controls: Amount controls strength, Size controls how far the darkening reaches inward, and Color picks the tint.
With a gradient background selected, click "Make Overlay Layer" to convert it into a movable, reorderable gradient layer (background becomes transparent). Edit its colors, angle, fade and opacity in the properties panel.
Apply a preset texture overlay on top of your background.
Found in the Background panel just under the fill-type buttons. Add a border around the entire template — solid, double, or broken (dashed) style — with adjustable width, color, opacity, inset, corner radius, and dash spacing.
Change the template dimensions (default 600 × 1800). Use the size control in the background panel or the template-size section in the right sidebar.
Switch the entire interface between English, Nederlands, Français, Español, and Deutsch using the language selector at the bottom of the left sidebar. Your choice is remembered for next time.
Open the QR tab in the left sidebar (above Background), type any URL or text, and click Generate. A high-resolution scannable QR code is created and dropped onto the canvas as an image layer you can move, resize, and rotate like any other graphic.
Link to an online photo gallery, a Wi-Fi login, an event hashtag, or a booking page — a scannable call-to-action right on the strip. The QR is exported at print resolution, so it stays sharp in PNG, JPEG, and Layers ZIP exports.
Click the yellow "Add Frame" button at the start of the second top bar to drop a new photo placeholder. New frames stack below the last one with a matching gap.
The Photo Frame Shape picker is the first item in the Master Properties panel when a photo is selected. Choose from rectangles, rounded, circles, hearts, stars, filmstrips, blobs and more — use "More shapes" to reveal the full gallery. Selecting a new shape resets all of that mask's geometry — corner radius, heart dip & scale, mask scale, and distort — back to their defaults, so a fresh shape never inherits the previous mask's settings. Apply a shape to all frames at once from the Apply to All controls below.
The red-bordered Style Presets dropdown (under the shape picker) applies a complete frame look in one click — border, shadow, glow, and gradient border together. Presets include thick white/black borders, gold and silver with matching gradient borders + shadow (+ optional glow), neon glow, and double border. Use "Save as my preset" to capture your current border, shadow, glow and gradient settings as a personal preset (stored in your browser); it then appears in the dropdown with a ★ and can be deleted with the ✕ button.
Per-frame borders: solid, double, or broken style, with independent side insets (link/unlink with the chain icon), corner radius, dash spacing, and an optional 4-stop gradient fill (enable the gradient toggle and pick colors, alpha, and angle).
Use "Apply style to all" or "Apply border to all" to copy one frame's settings to every photo frame on the canvas.
The yellow "Copy to All" button in the top bar copies every setting of the currently selected frame — shape, border, glow, shadow, distort — to all other frames at once.
Add a hand-drawn wobble to a frame's border and mask with the Distort slider (0–100%). The distortion pattern is tied to the frame's seed, so duplicated frames keep a consistent look.
Add a soft outer glow to a frame with the Glow intensity slider and color picker. Glow uses a CSS drop-shadow so it follows the exact shape of the mask, not a square box.
Per-frame drop shadow with independent Intensity, Blur, X/Y offset, and Color — found in the properties panel under the border controls.
With an image layer selected, click "Remove background" to erase the backdrop automatically (AI-based). Useful for cutting out logos or product photos before placing them.
Whenever two or more photo frames are on the canvas, a persistent spacing bar docks at the bottom of the designer with four sliders: Frame Spacing (vertical gap), Move Up / Down, Side Spacing (horizontal gap), and Move Left / Right. Each slider has its own reset button.
Frame Spacing and Side Spacing evenly distribute all photo frames with the chosen gap. Reset returns to the default computed spacing.
Move Up / Down and Move Left / Right nudge all frames together along Y or X by a set amount — useful for fine-tuning the whole grid.
Duplicates the entire layout side-by-side (or stacked) and doubles the canvas — handy for printing two strips at once.
Collapses back to a single strip, removing the duplicated copy.
Turn on preview to fill photo frames with sample photos instead of empty placeholders. The Preview button sits in the bottom bar, on the left next to the View menu (shortcut P).
Switch between wedding, party, corporate, festival, and several "greenkey" groups (green-screen cutouts composited onto your background/scene) sample photo sets. The set selector and a cycle-photos button appear next to the Preview button when preview is on.
When masking is on, the background is clipped to the photo window shapes so it only shows through the frames. Toggle it from the View menu in the bottom bar (M).
Save your current design to your account from the Templates panel or the start screen. It appears under "My Designs".
Click any saved design on the start screen to load it. A confirmation prompt protects unsaved work when switching.
Hover a template card and click ✕ to hide it. Hidden presets can be restored from the "Deleted templates" section at the bottom.
Export the full template at exact canvas resolution. PNG keeps transparency; JPEG is smaller with a flat background. All exports embed 300 DPI print metadata, so files open at the correct physical size (a 600×1800 strip prints as 2×6 inches) in Photoshop, Lightroom, and print software.
Exports the template with the current sample photos filled in — a realistic preview of the finished strip.
PNG, JPG and Preview exports are free and unlimited — no credits needed. Only the Layers ZIP export uses credits (2 per ZIP). The plan modal opens automatically if you're out of ZIP credits.
The violet "Layers ZIP" button exports every visible layer as a separate transparent PNG — background, each image, each text, shapes, gradients, frame borders, and the master border — bundled into one ZIP file. Each layer PNG also carries 300 DPI metadata. Costs 2 ZIP export credits. Ideal for handing off to a print house or re-compositing in Photoshop.
Export several layouts at once from the Bulk Export option in the Export menu. Select the tabs you want, click Export, and each design downloads as its own 300 DPI PNG — named after the tab. Free, like all single PNG exports.
Choose "Send link" in the Export menu to generate a no-login preview URL you can send to clients. The preview page has a light/dark theme toggle and a recenter button in the header to fit the strip to the screen. Previews generated from a non-subscriber account carry a demo watermark.
Clients can click the green "Approve" button on the share preview page to sign off the design. You'll receive an automatic email notification at the address on your account the moment they approve — no need to follow up manually.
Next to Approve, clients can click "Request changes" to open a text box, type what they'd like adjusted, and send. Their message is emailed to you in your account language and stored on the shared design — so you know exactly what to revise without a separate phone call.
Subscribe monthly (€9.99) or yearly (€95) for AI generation and Layers ZIP export access. PNG & JPG exports are free for everyone. Manage or cancel from the plan modal.
Buy 50 extra AI credits for €4.99 anytime — useful if you run out before your period resets.
Your remaining ZIP exports and AI credits are shown in the top bar, the AI panel, and the Account panel.
Click the user icon in the top bar (next to the plan / credits indicator) to open the Account panel. It shows your name, email, role, subscription status, and remaining ZIP exports and AI credits.
Use the "Log out" button in the Account panel to sign out — you'll be returned to the login screen.
